NEWS RELEASE: SBA Celebrates the Massachusetts Small Business Person of the Year and other Local Honorees for their Success and Impact
Awardee in competition for National Small Business Person of the Year to be presented during National Small Business Week in May
BOSTON, MA — Today the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Massachusetts district office is celebrating the Massachusetts Small Business Person of the Year and 8 additional honorees as it prepares for National Small Business Week, which will take place May 4-10, 2025. Along with awards ceremonies, the week will include a national small business roadshow with SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler, a two-day virtual summit, community events and educational sessions about manufacturing, digital marketing, cybersecurity and cryptocurrency, as well as online business resources and renowned speakers.
“This year’s incredible slate of honorees are battle-tested community pillars, innovators and leaders who represent the grittiness and ingenuity of Massachusetts entrepreneurs,” District Director Robert Nelson said.

Jeffrey Butland Family Owned Business of the Year: Amy Kridaratikorn, Sugar & Spice Restaurant Inc. Since opening in 2003, Sugar & Spice has grown as a beloved Thai cuisine restaurant located in the heart of Cambridge, MA. Amy recently completed the SBA’s THRIVE program and is expanding with the launch of Tom Yum Yang into a new location in the Allston neighborhood of Boston. Supported by the City of Boston’s SPACE Grant, Amy has taken the baton from her mother Penjan in elevating the business to the next level today employing over 30 staff.
